Business Manager’s Report - Summer 2011

I hope you all are having a great summer and are spending time with your
families. I also appreciate the job you do each and every day and I am happy to
report things remain very good for Local 104. We have seen some unemployment
but, for the most part, there is work available for all of our members. We have several
projects that are getting ready to bust wide open and we must make sure we are able
and willing to man them. If not, we will be taking steps in the wrong direction.

Local 104 has one of the largest jurisdictions in the country and it looks like we have the chance to be busy in every state we cover. Organizing will help us, but we also need you to help us secure these projects. The future of IBEW 104 is up to us. I have confidence we can do it and hope you feel the same.

There are many important items that will affect us all in the works as well, such as Right to Work Laws, Health Care, Social Security and Medicare issues. We have seen this before, but I can promise you many who are pushing these issues are not going away and are ready to battle. We cannot and will not let them take away things that mean so much to not only union members, but to many hard working Americans. Many people rely on such programs as Social Security and Medicare; to take these away would be wrong. We often ask you for your help and you always answer the call. These issues I mentioned will need the attention of not only our membership, but our loved ones and friends. Please let us know if you have any thoughts or ideas to help.

I have not posted in sometime and I promise from here on out I will be much more active on our web site in the future.

Fraternally yours,
Tiler F. Eaton, BM/FS
